Have you tried to start firefox using this command?

Code:
vmware_use_shipped_gtk=TRUE firefox &

And then try getting to the console?

Show me the full executable path, I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

You should just be able to type....
Code:
export vmware_use_shipped_gtk=TRUE
firefox &

Do that from your terminal session.

Finally figured it out.  I am using Windows 7 with IE & Firefox, and it was not working.  To make it work, I had to add the site to the trusted sites, and then when starting the browser, had to right click on it, and select "Run as Administrator" and then navigated back to the site.  It worked now!  I am guessing it had something to do with the new security settings on Windows 7.

Hi,

I've been trying to figure out a similar problem. Console wouldn't connect at all in both IE8 or FF3.6.3.  I'm running 64bit WIn 7 Pro and VMware 2.02.

I've read thru the whole thread and the only thing that worked was to clear the browser history in IE. (I didn't try to uninstall FF and use ver 3.5.7 ...)

Why does this work, anyone know?
Is there still no fix for FF3.6?

As none of the solutions here are sustainable in the long term, is there any info from VMware regarding timelines for real fixes?

Thanks! (and thanks for the suggestions and solutions here)

PS - where can I add VMware as a trusted site in FF?  I'm embarassed to admit that I found it easily in IE, but not in FF!)

Wow... having this issue. I haven't used VMWare in about a year and it's sad to see the state it's in. A bonified POS.

Well I got it working in IE8 by just dumping everything in the browsing history section. Still won't work in FF 3.6 but I guess it isn't supposed to as I see it posted elsewhere it doesn't work with 3.6. Least I can get to the machines again.

I can also confirm that I had the same issue with the VMware plugin in FF 3.6.x. Hopefully I managed to find this thread with the only workaround of downgrading my FF to 3.5.9!
It would be nice to have the plugin fixed, as the Mozilla folks will support (with updates and fixes) the 3.5.9 version only until August!
