Convert win xp
Oct 1st, 2009 at 7:28am

Dear all,

I want to know is it legal to convert my running Win XP to a vmware image by using wmware converter?

Recently I just converted one successfully.
When I opened it using vmware player, it asked me to Activate the window.
So, I'm worry about the legal issue.

If this is legal to convert, can I click on this "Activate" button?? or what should I do? I also afraid, it will become illegal pirate windows.

I'm new to the IT world and now i just start my career as a programmer. So, I need a virtual environment where I can test my programming and all things. So, I need it urgent.
Can somebody help me?
thanks.

if you own an XP license, then it's legal.

Unfortunately, it's not legal..

Technically speaking, you have two 'machines' now which means from what I gather, you need another license for the second 'machine'.

Pressing the activate button will probably show that the license is already in use and won't activate your second 'machine'.
